Doroma
Popular pets among Avarris are the reptile-like Doromi (Doroma = plural). They are a carnivorous species, about the size of a great-dane when fully grown. Doromi are prized pets for their colorful hides and speed.
Occasionally these creatures are bred for their horns and the amount of horns they can grow. They are also often bred for their colorful skins.
Breeding Doroma solely for the purpose of killing them for their horns or skin is against the law as it is viewed as animal cruelty.
A Doromi appears to be entirely sightless, however they have a keen sense of smell. They have big mouths that run all the way trough their necks, to allow them to digest meat more quickly than other carnivores, as their food enters their stomach more quickly.
Doromi are affectionate pets when properly trained, which is pretty easy to do with domesticated Doromi. They are similar in intelligence as domestic dogs. Doromi are able to differentiate smells from one another and easily identify Avarris from one another. They can also learn to respond to questions an learn to count if you put a bit of effort into their training.
Doromi typically lay eggs, but the domestic strain gives live birth. The domestic strain also has a lot more options for mini Doromi or generally smaller breeds than their feral counterparts.
Doromi can also be aquatic, however unlike their Avarris owners, they can not stay on land for very long. Their fins are sensitive and they do not have an extra pair of lungs that allow them to breathe air. Aquatic Doromi eat similarly to basking sharks as they have a skin pocket that allows for easier feeding.
