Avarris & Magic
All Avarris are capable of magic by nature. Avarris are bound to one element naturally, but can learn other spells from different elements. Elements are commonly associated to certain body parts, which are vital to properly mastering it. An Avarris is free to not use magic if they so chose.
Humans and elves are also able to learn magic if taught by Avarris. Avia have a similar natural affinity for magic, but rarely actually use it.
In Avarris folklore, magic is a blessing from the moon god, Naenarvas, wanting to put their own influence on the people Ankarresh had made, to make up for their Vamarris mistake. While this is largely speculation, the moons do in fact have an effect on Avarris magic. Power can be drawn from them, the height of it being when both moons are full, but on the other side of the coin, when both moons are in the new moon phase, magic can not be used for the duration. Both during day and night. Magic is forbidden during full moon, due to the surge in power, any spellcasters caught practicing magic during full moon will be jailed and fined after the moons are no longer full.

Fire |
Air |
Da'eru
The most common element an Avarri controls is Fire, allowing for the classic fire breath that is associated with dragons, as well as being naturally skilled in pyromancy. In modern times, fire magic is more commonly used as a party trick or for more practical use such as using it to cook and heat up things. Fire magic can also be used for physical therapy like massages. The Fire element is associated with the hands. |
Auraii, Ade'rii
A common element among Aquatic and Feathered Avarris. It is mostly used to amplify sounds, both at higher altitudes and underwater, as well as create bubbles underwater for guests to breathe freely. Although contrary to popular belief, air magic does not allow someone without wings to fly. Some less conventional uses for air magic include making people hear things that aren't actually there, similarly to an illusion but a lot less effective as the ones made when using Mind magic. The Air element is associated with the lungs. |
Earth |
Mind |
Fiora, Hemint
Earth magic is used to influence people's emotions, usually in a therapeutic manner, but it's commonly abused by others. Earth magic also has it's practical uses, mostly used to create makeshift shelters and enforce tunnel walls, but also destroy them. The Earth element is associated with the heart and feet. |
Skarrid
Mind magic is the hardest magic to learn, and is next to impossible to master unless you are one of the demi-gods. Mind magic allows for illusions to be created, telepathy to be used and items to be moved with telekinesis. Mind magic could also technically take minor control over someone, however this practice has been outlawed for years. |
